Why We Chose Joyya for Organic T-shirts and Totes

We all know that life is so much more than stuff, but sometimes we need things, and it feel so good to do good with your purchase.

It’s often said that you don't have to be brilliant, beautiful, or perfect to make a difference in someone's life; You just have to care. But finding opportunities isn't always easy.

So, when it came to choosing tees and tote bags for our team and the Everkind family, we chose JOYYA. They're an epic group of people with a super special story. 

Who is JOYYA?

JOYYA is a not-for-profit, with Kiwi roots. A group of people who want to make a difference in the world. Based in India, JOYYA has one ambitious goal - "to spark opportunity where little is found until we see an end to the horrors of extreme poverty and human trafficking."

Women and children who live in extreme poverty are incredibly vulnerable to human trafficking. Human trafficking is our modern-day slavery where people are sold, forced, or coerced from their families for the purpose of exploitation (which comes in many forms).

They find themselves living in a foreign place, in extreme poverty, and with their dignity stripped on the daily.

Once taken, it's near impossible for them to extricate themselves from this abuse. Children are then born, and a spiral of harm continues.

And that's where JOYYA comes in ...

What does JOYYA do?

They're betting on those battlers in life. The people who are living this nightmare, with a desire for better, but with no hope insight.

These battlers have the grit and determination to provide a better life, but without safe + fair employment, clean water, safe streets, sanitation, food, and education it’s impossible for them to thrive.

Courage is essential, but it takes more than courage to find freedom. They need opportunity; they need people to work with them to build a better tomorrow.

How does JOYYA help build a better tomorrow?

They create a ripple of care.

Starting with providing good living-wage employment opportunities for these women, so they're empowered to create better lives with healthier options for themselves and their families.

It doesn’t stop there though, there’s support for these families through education, healthcare, legal assistance, vocational training and housing.

And lastly, there’s care for the wider community, supporting the growth of vibrant and healthy communities.
